Most of the paper used in G. Lalo stationery is made at Papierfabriek Schut in the Netherlands. Established in 1618, the Schut mill current produces stationery and other fine papers on a hybrid machine, which can produce both mould made and fourdrinier. Though the machinery is modern, the mill still radiates a traditional atmosphere and applies the same degree of skill and care to every sheet of paper as it did in historic times. The mill still uses pure water from the nearby Heelsum brook for a fine, acid-free paper, while rag content is supplied by the best cotton linters for a perfect finish. The quality of the work has enabled the mill to prosper over the centuries. Once one of many small mills in the Veluwe area, Schut is the only specialty grade producer that remains.
